Prime minister Jose Maria Aznar, unlike his counterparts Blair and Bush, has managed to sidestep any questioning of his decision to send troops to Iraq. The outright majority holding governing party, defeated two seperate motions in parliament, that called for inquiries into the validity of their evidence used to justify war.

The government defended themselves on the grounds that they never issued intelligence reports of their own. They claim that all comments made in the build up to war, were based on " UN inspectors reports....and the conviction of the international community ".

This sounds very odd to me given that as you well know, the UN reports showed insufficient evidence to justify any statements by Aznar and his chronies, that Iraq was a threat to " world peace ". So yet again, the skilled Aznar survives another political suicide and lives to fight another day.
